The Southern Pines Pilot Endorses June Atkinson for State Superintendent
Voters should keep Democratic incumbent June Atkinson. She has become a solid and outspoken proponent of the public schools — as when she earlier this year called for a 10 percent pay raise for teachers.
Her GOP challenger, Mark Johnson, started out strong but has raised some doubts — as when he loudly voiced accusations against his opponent that proved unfounded. Let’s stick with Atkinson.
